Cal Poly English Language Institute (CPELI) Library Orientation

This guide contains most of the topics explained during the orientation visit to the library.

Picture dictionaries

Bilingual picture dictionaries display vocabulary with illustrations showing the English words paired with another language. The Cal Poly Pomona library has picture dictionaries in these languages:

Arabic, Cambodian, Chinese, Farsi, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese.

These books are located at the Circulation/Reserve Desk on the 2nd Floor of the library. The library employee at the Reserve Desk will ask you for a call number, so you must first look up the call number for the picture dictionary that you want.

To find the call number, start at the library home page. In the Services column, click Course Reserves. Next click the Course tab. Type CPELI in the search box. You will then see a display of the picture dictionaries in various languages with their call numbers. Or, go directly to the list here.
