A Living Library consists of “books” that are human. Each of these Living "books" volunteer to share their story.

Welcome to Cal Poly Pomona's The Living Library: Beyond Stereotypes to be held in University Library on May 16, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. A Living Library consists of “books” that are human. Each of these Living "Books" volunteer to share their story.  We encourage faculty and staff to volunteer as Living Books and faculty, staff and students to volunteer to support the event.   

Ways to be participate:

  • Volunteer to be help out at the event and help connect readers with Living Books. Sign up herehttp://libguides.library.cpp.edu/livinglib/vol 
  • Volunteer to be a Living Book at the event and share a part of your identity that others may be curious about. Please feel free to recommend others to consider signing up for this critical role--we can't have a library without Living Book volunteers!   • Please note that you DO need to participate in a training session to volunteer AND/OR be a Living Book. Volunteer and Living Book training sessions will be held on in the University Library the following dates and times.
    • Training for Living Books Tuesday, May 1 3-4pm 4th Floor Special Events room
      Training for Volunteers Thursday, May 3 3:30-4:30pm 4th Floor Special Events room
      Training for Volunteers Tuesday, May 8 12-1pm 1st Floor 1828
      Training for Living Books Friday May 11, 12-1pm 4th Floor Special Events room

       

If you just want to attend as a reader, you do not need to register or attend any of the information sessions/trainings ahead of time, just show up. Living Books will be on a first come first serve basis.
