Global Newsstream (US & International Newspapers)
Full text access to hundreds of U.S. and international newspapers, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Times of London, and Wall Street Journal.
Web of Science Core Collection
Provides seamless access to Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Science Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index. Over 10,000 journals are indexed in this multidisciplinary database. Web of Science also provides a unique search method, cited reference searching. 1991 to present. Read more about this resource or watch an introductory how-to video.
SimplyAnalytics (formerly SimplyMap)
GIS tool for creating custom maps using U.S. datasets. Data available: people (demographics, consumer expenditures, market segments, sales potential), businesses (establishments, employees, retail sales), consumer price index, crime, and weather. Geographies available: states, congressional district, counties, cities, zip code, census tract, block groups, and street address. Not all data available in all geographies.

Publicly available website published by the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford.
COVID-19 Dashboard
Publicly available website published by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

PubMed
Publicly available government database for medical research.
Westlaw
Library database for legal research. On the start page, click on "COVID-19 Legal Materials & News"

Web Search Tips

Many online sources are plagiarized or of questionable quality. When using online sources, ask yourself the following questions: Who is the author? What are his/her credentials? What possible biases exist? When was this source published?

Google.com
Use the site command to search within certain websites, e.g site:*.edu for all higher ed websites, site:*.gov for all government websites.
Google Books
This search engine provides full-text for older books out of copyright. You can also use it to preview newer books that you can then get from the library.
Google News
Current news from all over the world.
Google Scholar
This search engine automatically connects to the library's full-text databases when you're on campus. If you are off campus, you can click on SETTINGS, then click on LIBRARY LINKS, add CAL POLY POMONA, and click SAVE.
