Background Research

Subject-specific encyclopedias, handbooks, and dictionaries can help you define unfamiliar terms, provide you with a better idea about the issues revolving around your topic, and help you decide on a research question.

Once you've narrowed your topic and decided on a research question, search for scholarly and peer reviewed articles or journals in the library databases. You can browse through the full list of scholarly databases available at the University Library.
