Victoria Castro - Founding member and first president of the Young Citizens for Community Action (Pre-Cursor of the Brown Berets), longtime educator, administrator, and former school board member for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Rachael Ochoa - Founding member of the Young Citizens for Community Action, a member of the Mayor Sam Yorty’s Youth Advisory Council, and longtime educator for the El Monte Unified School District.
The event will highlighted the contributions of the Chicana & Chicano activist community in fighting for the establishment of Ethnic & Women’s Studies, Chicana & Chicano Studies, and Central American Studies in the California public school, community college and university system.
