The Collections, Acquisitions, and Resource Discovery Services (CARDS) department manages Kanopy film requests in compliance with Library Policies.

• Eligibility: Only current faculty are eligible to request films. Requests must specifically state academic, educational, curricular, or research purposes.

• Request Limits: Faculty may request up to 3-5 films.

• Availability Check: The CARDS team will first check if the requested title is available in another library-subscribed collection before approving the request in Kanopy.

• Budget Equity: The Kanopy budget is distributed equitably across departments to ensure fair access to streaming resources for all faculty.

• Processing Time: Requests take approximately 3-5 business days to process. Requests submitted after hours or on weekends will be addressed the next business day.

• Be Proactive: Faculty should verify that Kanopy titles are still available for use in their courses.

To request a film not currently available in the Kanopy collection faculty should:

1. Search for the Film: Visit the Kanopy platform and search for the desired title.
   *Make sure you are logged in with your cpp.edu account.
2. Request Access: If the film is not available, click on the "Request Access" button associated with the title.
3. Complete the Request Form on Kanopy: Fill out the request form with the policy in mind.

What happens after I make the request?
How long will it take to get the film?

1. Request is Submitted: The request is sent to the Collections, Acquisitions, & Resource Discovery Services (CARDS).

2. Movie Title Check: The CARDS team verifies if the requested title is available in another collection before approving it in Kanopy. Requests are reviewed according to our policy stated above to maintain equity.

3. Processing Time:

   • It takes 2-3 working days for the Library to process the order.
   • Kanopy requires an additional day to make the title available.
      

4. Plan Ahead: Submit requests at least 3-5 days in advance to allow for timely access. Requests made after hours or over the weekend will be processed the next working day.

5. Notification: You will be notified once the film is available through your cpp.edu email.
