Introduction to Zotero

What's Zotero?

Zotero is a comprehensive citation management tool that allows researchers to collect, manage, and accurately cite their sources.

  • Zotero is easy to use, can exist as a web-based or desktop-based application, seamlessly connects to your research process through an intuitive browser extension, and best of all it's free.
  • With Zotero, you can to attach PDFs, write notes, and add images to your citations. You can also organize them into collections for different projects, connect the program to Microsoft Word and Google Docs, as well as create bibliographies.
  • The app automatically updates itself periodically to work with new online sources and new bibliographic styles.

Connect the CPP Library catalog to your Zotero

The Library Lookup option lets you locate items in an online library catalog so you can track down a physical or online full-text copy of the resource. You'll need to select your library's OpenURL resolver which is located in Zotero Settings.

From the Edit tab (located in the top toolbar), and then select Settings. In the Zotero Settings window, scroll down to the Locate section and click on the Resolver drop-down menu. Then, locate Cal Poly Pomona by hovering over North America and then the United States.
