There is also a wealth of information that can be found outside of the library and the campus. The Lyle Center came to be through a confluence of factors, not least of all being the 1985 Spadra Landfill and Resource Conservation Project agreement with the Los Angeles County Sanitation District. There are many entities which may require reports and data, or that may be in possession of reports, data, and other information or materials. To research effectively, it's important to look in any place information could be. Much of the information that you may want is probably not digitized, so it may not be accessible on an entity's website. In these cases, you may need to email someone or submit a Public Record Request. The process may be intimidating, but the worse anyone you reach out to can do is tell you they don't have the requested information.
Fortunately, you don't have to do it alone. Your Environmental Design Librarian is happy to help you get started.
Many of the Lyle Center's materials are found in-person in the University Library's Special Collections. They range from photographs to maps to historical data and writings. It is a good idea to stop by as soon as you can so that you can have time to take a look at the material you may need for your research. Make an appointment and have an idea of what you want to see so that our Special Collections staff can best assist you.

The Document Resource Center is another place you can look for information on the Lyle Center. The DRC is operated by Facilities. They are the record holders of things like the master plan for the campus, blueprints, irrigation and pipe layouts, and other related information. They can provide you with info. Just reach out.
