“Everything you need for better future and success has already been written. And guess what? All you have to do is go to the library."
-Henri Fredric Amiel
From April 7 to April 11, 2025, Cal Poly Pomona University Library celebrates National Library Week (NLW). During this annual event, we highlight the contributions of libraries, librarians, and library workers. NLW also promotes library use and support. The theme for this year is "Drawn to the Library!" Our events this year are mostly in-person with some hybrid programming.

As part of our National Library Week events, the University Library will explore the question: What’s it like to work as a library student assistant?
Hear from a panel of library staff and current and former student assistants as they discuss how student assistants contribute to library operations, the hiring process, and the potential professional benefits of working in the library. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions!
This event is held in conjunction with National Library Workers Day, established in 2003 by the American Library Association’s Allied Professional Association to recognize the contributions of library employees.
The event is hybrid: It will take place in person at 15-4829 and via Zoom.

Golden Leaves Author Award
Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm
Location: Hybrid, Special Events Room 4829 and Online, register here
We are pleased to announce that the University Library will host the Golden Leaves Author Awards recognition ceremony on Friday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon via Zoom. We will recognize all honorees since 2024, and they are welcome to join the ceremony along with their family and friends. The event is free, but registration is required on Tixtree to receive the Zoom login information or to attend the in-person event.
Since 1986, the Golden Leaves program has celebrated members of the Cal Poly Pomona campus community—faculty, staff, students, alumni, and retirees—who have authored or edited a book* in the preceding year. The program is funded by the University Library with generous support from the Wilson Family Memorial Golden Leaves Endowment.
Each year, books published by Cal Poly Pomona authors are displayed in the Library during the month of April. The University Library celebrates the Golden Leaves program annually in conjunction with National Library Week.
*To be eligible, authors must be affiliated with the campus community (faculty, staff, students, alumni, or retirees) and must have authored or edited a published book within the preceding two years. Following UNESCO’s definition, a book must be at least 49 pages in length, excluding cover pages. Books published in an all-electronic format are accepted. Honorable Mention authors must meet all the same requirements as full Golden Leaves honorees but will have written or co-authored a chapter or essay within a larger published work (i.e., they are not listed as the book’s author or editor, but are credited as contributors).
Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Location: Second Floor, Bronco Community Zone
