The California State University (CSU) system is participating in ACM Open, a three-year Transformative Agreement with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) as negotiated with the CSU Chancellor's Office. This Transformative Agreement ends on October 31, 2026.
ACM Open allows corresponding authors affiliated with the CSU to publish open access in eligible ACS journals without needing to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC).
ACM's goal is to officially transition to "full flip" or Fully Open Access publishing in December 2025.

Yes, all corresponding authors affiliated with the CSU are eligible, including faculty, students, staff, etc. When submitting an article, authors are required to use their CSU-affiliated email address.
Corresponding authors are responsible as the contact during the submission, production, and publication process. They are given the authority to act on behalf of all co-authors in matters pertaining to publication, including any supplementary material.
The article must be original research or a research review. All corresponding authors from an institution participating in ACM Open will have their research articles published open access in ACM journals, conference proceedings, and magazines. Other article types such as editorial material or book reviews are not covered.
