2020-2021 Agenda Items

The Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee aims to transform the internal and external environment of the University Library as it pertains to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Some of our projects for AY 2020-2021 include:

  • Creating a more diverse and inclusive calendar for University Library events and promotion
  • Draft a land acknowledgement policy for the University Library website and public events, in conversation with the Native American Student Center
  • Conducting initial research for a resource guide about Indigenous history and communities in Los Angeles County and the greater Pomona Valley
  • Assessing the physical space of the library and outlining a set of initial goals and recommendations for improvement
  • Exploring ways to grow our collection in alignment with campus demographics and Inclusive Excellence goals
  • Exploring an internal reading group for library staff and faculty on topics of equity, diversity, and inclusion

Noteworthy Accomplishments

In the spring of 2021, the EDI committee made an initial list of 50 title recommendations to be added to our collection. The full list, alongside additional titles recommended by the Inclusive Excellence Council can be located here. A brief selection of new titles is below:
