WELCOME HOME BRONCOS! To make sure you have a great semester, the University Library has a series of fun and engaging library events to teach about the library and our many services. Please join us online for as many events as you can!

CPP University Library Welcome Week

August 26 – 30, 2019

Program

Monday, August 26

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Maker Studio Open House

Location: Second Floor of the Library, CPP Maker Studio

Experience the brand-new Maker Studio, a place where you can tinker, create, build, and make! This open house will give CPP students and faculty the opportunity to experience the space as well as to see some of the unique equipment in action. Come see our 3D printers, sewing machines, letterpress, and more!

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM Library Tour

Location: First Floor of Library, Concierge Desk

Come join us for a tour of the library. The guided tour will take you throughout the library to learn about the various services, departments, history, and hidden secrets of the library!

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Therapy Dogs

Location: Second Floor of the Library, Knowledge Center

Therapy dogs are a vital portion of library programming to de-stress the campus community. Join us during Welcome Week 2019 and meet a member of our therapy dog team. Start your stress management early and "paws" your stress.

Tuesday, August 27

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM "Passport to Your Future" - Welcome Party for Undeclared Students

Location: First Floor of Library, Stacks

Join us to learn about the various colleges, centers, and resources available to you at Cal Poly Pomona. Representatives will be available to assist you with deciding your major, participating in student clubs, identifying resources to help you succeed, and how to integrate into Cal Poly Pomona life. Lunch will be provided.

2:30 PM - 3:00 PM Mario Kart Tournament

Location: Second Floor of the Library, Knowledge Center

We will crown daily winners in our Mario Kart Tournament. Only 16 students will be able to compete per day so make sure you sign up early to secure a spot!

3:00 PM - 3:30 PM Nintendo Switch Free Play

Location: Second Floor of the Library, Knowledge Center

The University Library is home to many awesome multiplayer Nintendo Switch games, we have Mario Kart, Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pokkén, ARMS, and 1-2 Switch. Join in on the current game, or wait for the next slot to open up for some fun!

Wednesday, August 28

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Library Tour

Location: First Floor of Library, Concierge Desk

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Healthy Eating on a Budget Workshop

Location: Fourth Floor of the Library, Special Events Room 4829

In this workshop, Dr. Ge from the Collins College of Hospitality and Management will discuss what healthy eating is, the common barriers to healthy eating, and some tips for healthy eating with a tight budget and busy schedule.

Location: Second Floor of the Library, Knowledge Center

Want to win some free stuff? Come play our Fishing Game in the Knowledge Center! Have some fun learning about the Library’s services and facilities and earn a prize while you’re at it!

9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Back to School Book Sale

Location: Outside the Library Be sure to stop by for a great bargain. Hardbacks are $2 and paperbacks are $1.

11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Faculty/Staff Introduction to Library Resources and Services

Location: Second Floor of the Library, Room 2907

Join us for brief presentations led by library faculty and staff who will introduce CPP employees to the library resources and services available to them. You will meet our subject librarians, learn about OneSearch, library databases, services & resources, and unique treasures held within Special Collections and Archives. Light refreshments will be provided.

Location: Second Floor of the Library, Knowledge Center

Stop by our Button Making table. Come create your own wearable pinback buttons! Art supplies will be provided at the event.
