Do you know how to paraphrase and cite your work properly? Did you know that you must always include citations if you are referencing someone else's work, regardless of the assignment? Are you aware of what the consequences could be if you are caught cheating or plagiarizing on an assignment? Did you know that some consequences could result in an automatic zero or failure in the class?
The Office of Student Conduct & Integrity and the University Library have teamed up to offer the “Avoiding Plagiarism & Maintaining Academic Integrity Workshop” to students. In this workshop, we will review Cal Poly Pomona’s definition of academic integrity, review some strategies and tips on paraphrasing and citations, and discuss how the misuse of online platforms can lead to an academic integrity violation.
The workshop will be offered this Fall 2022 Semester as follows: Tuesday – September 6th, Thursday – September 29th, Thursday – October 13th, Thursday – November 3rd, and Thursday - December 1st. This semester, the sessions will be held in a hybrid format and during U-Hour (12pm). Students will have an opportunity to attend in-person on a first-come, first-serve basis. Otherwise, students will have an opportunity to attend the session online via Zoom. We will email registrants with more details after sign-up. For any specific questions regarding the workshop, you may email Nicole Mendoza at mendoza@cpp.edu.
