Ethnic Studies Bill -- AB 1460

In February 2019, Assemblymember Shirley Webber introduced AB 1460 bill that requires the California State University to require the completion of a 3-unit ethnic studies course as an undergraduate graduation requirement, starting with the 2024-2025 academic year. According to the bill, all 23 CSU campuses are required to provide ethnic studies courses starting with the 2021-2022 academic year.

Ethnic studies focuses on four historically defined racialized groups: African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, Latina/o Americans, according to the bill.
