W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Library

The collection contains financial records, correspondence, book contracts, by-laws, policies, and other administrative records related to the Arabian Horse Association of Southern California. There is also material about the group's annual Fall Arabian Horse Show.

Leo Bradshaw was an equine photographer who was contracted to take photographs of horse shows across the country, but primarily in the Western United States. The collection contains photographs, negatives, programs, and schedules from the various shows that Bradshaw attended; lists of horses, owners, and riders; Bradshaw's notes and index cards; and his contractual information.

A.J. Edwards was an agent of the American Remount Association in Oregon during the 1940s. This collection includes stud books and receipts of mares bred to Edwards' stud horses, correspondence, photographs, and a stamp.

Gladys Brown Edwards was a noted equine artist and authority on the Arabian horse. She worked at the Kellogg Ranch for over a decade and was active in the Arabian horse community. Her husband, Cecil L. Edwards, was a respected horseman and Quartermaster General of the Pomona Remount Depot. The collection includes personal and business correspondence; photographs; business records; Gladys’ extensive research materials; and examples of her artwork.

Suzanne Fisher graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Animal Science. The collection includes papers, photographs, and realia that document Fisher's work with the University's Arabian horses.

Khemosabi was a bay Arabian stallion born in 1967. He won many major Arabian horse show awards as well as the highest honor from the Arabian Horse Association: Legion of Masters. The collection contains materials related to Khemosabi collected by B. Paul Husband.

The Kit Carson Ranch was operated by the Shade family in Riverside, California during the early 20th century. The collection contains papers and photographs that document the history of the Ranch and the Shade family.

Lois Ann Kroll was an Arabian horse trainer, author, and designer of show costumes for both horse and rider. The collection contains drafts, illustrations, and other materials related to her book Arabian Costumes; photographs of Kroll's Arabian horses; and various costumes, saddles, and other realia.

The collection contains photographs, articles, newsletters, catalogs, DVDs, videocassettes, and other material related to the Arabian horse collected by horse breeder Chris Matthews.

The collection includes photographic prints, photographic slides, pedigree charts, and other information about horses that were bred by Neal and Marjorie McKinstry of McKinstry Arabians in Colorado.

This collection contains various items of Arabian horse breeder and enthusiast, Joseph S. "Jay" Meyers. This collection includes, but is not limited to, pedigrees of horses, programs from various horse shows, directories, newspaper clippings, photographs and correspondences to and from Jay Meyers.

Autumn Shade was a resident of Riverside, California, who was involved with the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Ranch in the 1930s. In addition to riding Kellogg horses, Shade was heavily involved with the Delta Theta Chi sorority. The collection includes materials that document her life and activities in the 1930s and 1940s.

The W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center is an Arabian horse breeding, training, and education facility at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The Horse Center grew out of the Kellogg Ranch built by cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg in Pomona, California in 1925. Kellogg donated the ranch to the state in 1932 and it was operated by the University of California until 1943, when the ranch began serving as the Pomona Quartermaster Depot (Remount) for the Army Remount Service. The ranch was transferred to the California Polytechnic Colleges in 1949 and the breeding program was incorporated into the agriculture curriculum. The collection includes files documenting the horses that have lived at the Horse Center, administrative records, records from the Pomona Quartermaster Depot (Remount), breeding records, and realia and ephemera.

The collection contains newsletters from various Arabian horse clubs and organizations in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

The collection includes photographic prints, negatives, and photograph albums documenting the horses, people, events, visitors, buildings and landscapes of the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Ranch from its beginning as W.K. Kellogg's winter home (1925-1932) to the present day.

The collection contains both postcards and notecards related to the W.K. Kellogg Ranch. Included in the collection are cards depicting the horses of the W.K. Kellogg Ranch, the Kellogg House, the Kellogg Company, and the W.K. Kellogg Ranch.

The W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Ranch was established in 1925 in Pomona, California by cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg to fulfill his long-held dream of breeding Arabian horses. The ranch served as Kellogg's winter home until 1932, when he donated the horses and property to the University of California. The University operated the ranch as the W.K. Kellogg Institute of Animal Husbandry until 1943 when the ranch was transferred to the United States government for use by the United State Army Remount Service. The Army operated the ranch as the Pomona Quartermaster Depot (Remount) and bred horses for the cavalry. In 1949, the ranch was transferred a final time to the California state Department of Education and ultimately became the campus of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The university has continued the Arabian breeding program to the present day. The collection includes correspondence, financial records, guestbooks, scrapbooks, legal agreements, ephemera, and realia documenting the operation of the ranch as Kellogg's private home and its subsequent transfer to various institutions.

Charles Black was a member of the United States Cavalry and was stationed at the Pomona Remount Depot during World War II.

Don Early was a notable figure in the Southern California horse community and the founder of Pacific Coast Quarter Horse magazine.

Fred L. Gray worked at the Kellogg Ranch as an animal trainer in the 1930s. The collection includes photographs of horses and dogs trained by Gray.

Merle Little was a horseman who lived in Southern California who was instrumental in the development of the Morgan horse breed in the West.

John Williamson was a grandson of W.K. Kellogg. Williamson acted as official photographer for William Randolph Hearst for his trip to the Middle East in the 1940s to purchase new Arabian blood for his ranch at San Simeon.

The collection includes artwork depicting the Arabian horse and trophies and ribbons from Arabian horse shows.
